Benefits of Green tea and how to prepare

Tea is the second most consumed beverage in the world. The level of oxidation of the leaves determines weather they are black tea,green tea or other type of teas. Green tea is made from unoxidized leaves and is one of the less processed types of tea. It is loaded with antioxidants and nutrients that have powerful effects on the body.

Green tea improve your heart health by decreasing the risk factors like total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol and triglycerides. Green tea drinkers have up to a 31% lower risk of cardiovascular disease.

Improve brain function

Green tea can enhance our brain’s cognitive functions, particularly the working memory. It contains more than just caffeine. It also has the amino acid L-theanine, which is able to cross the blood-brain barrier.

Cancer prevention

Green tea is an excellent source of powerful antioxidants reduce the cancer risk. High level of polyphenols in tea helps to kill cancerous cells and stop them from growing and reduce the cancer risk.

Inflammatory skin diseases

Researchers found promising new treatment for skin deceases like psoriasis and dandruff. Inflammation and over production of skin cells due to these deceases decreased considerably with the help of green tea.

Lower the risk of obesity

Green tea leads to decreases in body fat, especially in the abdominal area. It increases the metabolic activity in your body and thus burns some fat but the weight loss using green tea only is a slow process.

How to prepare green tea

Step 1

Take one teaspoon of green tea leave in a strainer/sieve and keep aside.

Step 2


Boil the water the ideal temperature for green tea is 80°C to 85°C.
If it starts boiling switch off the heat and let it cool for a bit.

Step 3

Now, place the sieve/ strainer over the cup or mug and pour the hot water into the cup and let the tea steep for 3 minutes

Step 4

Now, take out the sieve and keep it aside. If you want, you may add 1 teaspoon honey.

Step 5

Stir the honey in and let the drink cool for a few seconds. Enjoy your cup of green tea.
